21 Million Versus 5

So I had been putting reading off a certain novel because I usually hate feeding into popular stuff  (ie Twilight and Harry Potter). Watching the first hour of the new movie that just came out (featuring Daniel Craig) made me bite the bullet. I went to my local used book store and bought this :

And as people have told me it is a hard book to put down. So the back cover states that 21 million copies have been sold. So 21 million have read it.  Which brings me to the next purchase (which I thought was a gem) :

So maybe five people have read this old school fantasy book form the 80's.  Ha! I think this book is cool though.  So since the books came in two, I will leave you with two random pics*:

GUESS MY AGE! WIN A PRIZE!

So I promised a huge blog entry because it is my birthday. Well here goes:

Here was my first card. And when I opened the card it contained the following:

I hit the jackpot. I scratched one and won 6 bucks. And here is a card from a family member that means a lot to me:

I will treasure this card. Now onto the contest. Take a look at this next picture :

So here is the birthday boy and his fancy meal. Can you guess my age? If you can guess correctly my real age I will send you a random assortment of this :

Wait what is this?*  Lets try this again. You can win this:

I will provide the winner with a random assortment of mail art goodies from these boxes. So if anyone is interested just send me an email or leave a comment on the blog with your guess of my age. ( This contest is not open to immediate friends or family).

Wait! How did this get in here? Ha!  So I had a good day and I hope everyone else did. Have a good night everyone.

* For the record I did not take a picture of crows on a dumpster. I'm intrigued that someone I know did.

Plants!

It is my birthday tomorrow so I promise it will be the mother of all blog postings on that day. In the meantime I leave you with this :

This plant was one quarter the size when I first got it. And take a look at this baby -

These bamboo plants have been growing so fast in my office. I put a tape mark on the wall to follow the growth.

See you tomorrow. Big day ahead!

Lazy Sunday!

I have a ton of stories to talk about and tons of good news. But maybe I have the winter blahs because I spent the day just lounging. I'm always on the grind so maybe a day of rest isn't such a bad thing. Here is some random items :

I sent this bad boy out to my fav gal. I was bored on lunch at work one day.  I figure if I fool around enough with drawings that somehow I will improve. Wishful thinking!

Errrr... This is an interesting take on  traditional Christmas cards. I received this from Ashley in China. We have been direct swapping for about a year now.

I took the McDonalds McCafe ads that have come in the mail and I transformed it into this card. I mailed it out to a  fellow postcrosser. One day maybe, I can own my own cafe. One can dream!

Hey wait ! How did this get in here?

So Cold Again!

It is freezing out again and super cold (-35 Celsius today). This cold is driving me nuts.  To cheer myself up I updated my wall of postcards at home. Take a gander at this :

I think it looks better than my wall from several months ago:

I am biased about my updated wall because I love Conan the Barbarian! *I was so excited when I found a Conan calender in a store in Sudbury during the Christmas holidays. I had felt like I hit the jackpot. My favorite gal didn't share my enthusiasm as she had other "important" shopping items on the agenda (Wink, Wink).

*And for the record I think the new Conan movie is garbage. So when I say I love Conan - I'm basically saying anything but the new movie. Feel free to debate that with me if you wish.

-30 Celsius

So it is super cold outside and it is the weekend so a Saturday afternoon is perfect to catch up on some mail art. Here is some highlights of what I'm working on:

This card was purchased at a Trading Post in Temagami (which is a few hours from where I live).  I love vintage postcards and I hope that the person in China (postcrossing) also likes it. Temagami is a small town of less than 1000 people. The trading post is located next to the gas station and restaurant located on the highway between two larger cities. So I got a comical laugh when the employee at the trading post asked me if I was just passing through.  Isn't everyone?

This card is from the Netherlands.   Zet 'm op! = come one.  If you flip this over you get :

Jammer = Come on! Thank you Regina for this card!

I am sending this to Poland (postcrossing) because the user requested a vintage and/or city card. I bought this card in Toronto. It is also one of my favorites.

This card came was sent to the Kate and Rob postcrossing account. I think it is neat. Thank you Tanya from Belarus.

And this card is going to Belarus (postcrossing). She doesn't like tourist cards so I send her a homemade one. She also loves Big Bang Theory (who doesn't).  So I wrote Bazinga on the back. Ha.

Okay so this is it for now. Take care everyone!
