Good Eats!

Sorry for the delay in my blog posts. I'm having too much fun over the holidays with my favorite gal and I don't want the good times to stop. I feel on top of the world right now. I still have a another week off work so let the fun times keep a rolling.  For the record I am extremely tired.

Here are some funny pics of the holidays in no particular order :

The Christmas dinner is served!

Here is how I eat it!

Cafe Mocha at my favorite coffee house.

Here is how I drink coffee.

Sometimes I get some help when I'm too lazy to stir.

Alright I have a wedding to get ready for. For the record I think that scheduling a wedding for New Years Eve is silly. Happy New Years everyone!

Happy Festivus!

Greetings followers. Today is a special holiday!!! Can you guess what it is?  It's Festivus!
If you are over 25 you may understand what all the excitement is about! If you are under 25 please watch reruns of Seinfeld and check google for more information.

So without further ado I give you step by step instructions to make your own Festivus Pole. Caution: results may vary. Here goes:

Step 1 - Assemble materials

Step 2 - Wrap cardboard pieces with duct tape

Step 3 - Wrap foil around the tube

Step 4 - Make sure Festivus Pole can stand upright

Step 5 - Pose for the camera

I hope everyone enjoyed this Festivus lesson. Happy Festivus for the rest of us!
And I'm so glad I got a haircut and a beard trim up. Another Festivus miracle!

Sleigh Ride!

So my Christmas vacation has officially begun. And I feel like the clock has started to the madness that I love and call Christmas time. I have tons of things to do (ie cleaning, wrapping gifts etc, visiting family and friends)  over the next week that I barely will have any time for the mail. So I have four hours right now of free time before the rush so I'm trying to finish up all my mail items.

So here goes :

This card is not really  Christmas themed but I sent it out to a person in Estonia. Their profile said they love any type of card. So I hope they like this.

This card came for my brothers account (which I ghost manage). I like it and I know my brother will love it.

I am jealous because the following also just came in for my brother :

This card shows how the first Finnish Christmas trees looked like. The sender also explained that they decorated the tree with "flag thread" which were flags that represented the closest Scandinavian countries. Finnish people also decorated the tree with candies, candles and glass balls (rich families). As I am part Finnish  (Laamanen) I appreciated this card and my brother will also. Thank you Minna!

Okay I'm out of time and have to head to martial arts. Merry Christmas everyone!

Stop! Christmas Time! (Alternative Title: I'm Back Baby!)

I have turned a new leaf in life because up till yesterday I was not feeling the Christmas spirit. But now I'm all over the it and I'm in such a good mood.  Here is a pic of me playing Santa that made me laugh. Wait - I meant I was filling in for Santa as he is such a busy guy. Ha!

Stop! Santa is in the house!

And here is me shopping in Quebec and helping Santa again:

Here is a postcard I received from Finland. Thank you Sari! I plan on framing this.

And this doesn't really fit the Christmas theme but I mailed this out to Finland today. This card was created by artists who do not have use of their arms. It was created by foot and mouth only.  The artists are based out of Toronto. I had meant to visit the agency last time I was in Toronto but I ran out of time. The postcrosser collects banknotes and stamps so I provided with some of my American surplus of money and stamps.

Well I'm out of time. I'm off to curling. Only 4 more days till I see my fav gal!

Happy Christmas Time!

I love the Big Bang Theory! I just wanted to get that out of the way. Now I can focus on mail art and postcrossing. Here goes:

I am sending this card to a person in Australia. My friend is moving back to London so it is also a part tribute to him.

This is from Germany and is a school project that was turned into a postcard. I'm going to frame this and bring it out every Christmas. Thank you Sandra!

Everyone in postcrossing much know by now how much I love coffee. This card came from Russia.

I hope the rest of the world watches C.S.I. because I have been sending this Christmas card around the world. Ha!

Sidenote: I have no dvd player so I'm stuck watching TV. I'm stuck between American Dad or Beyond Scared Straight. They both suck.

I received this for my joint postcrossing account with my favorite gal. Finally someone addressed a card to me instead of her. It took 63 days for it to reach me from Poland. Thanks Marta!

I received this from my favorite pen pal in England. She is the best. This was the first Christmas card I have received from her. We are almost at a year of writing each other. I hope we continue on for many more years.

This I received from the lovely Claire in the good ole United States of America.  How did she know I love baseball? I sent her a CSI Christmas card in return.

And here is a plug of Cora's.  I sent it to my favorite gal because we always enjoy eating there. If you haven't eaten at one you don't know what your missing.

Whoah it is 12:30 am and though I'm not tired I should at least try to wind down. This could be my longest blog post ever. I hope you enjoyed it. Good night.

Mitch All Together

I can never think of a good blog title so named it after Mitch Hedbergs third stand-up cd. If you are not familar with him look him up on youtube. And with that introduction lets move onto mail art:

Postcrossing accounts:

This beautiful card came into today and added some warmth to my day. The winter can be cold and depressing where I live.

I manage a postcrossing account for a relative so this is what the next person on his list will receive on  my behalf. The receiver is from the USA and he loves science fiction. This was the best I could do for him.

I had more to show you but I'm extremely tired so this is a good time to cash out.

Red Ring!

So my X-BOX 360 suffered the red ring of death and is out of commission. I owned it for 7 years (roughly) so I think it lasted a good run. People would crank me and say it was because of heavy use but I just chuckle because I have heard all the jokes before.I don't play half as much as I did when I was 25 but I feel like I'm going through slight withdrawals here.

So since I have free time now to focus on my other hobbies here is so more postcrossing updates:

This is going to the Ukraine. I bought this in Toronto a few weeks ago and the fellow postcrosser requested a night view. This fits the bill perfectly.

I hope this person in Belarus enjoys this one. They had requested things that represented the country that you are from.

I love when postcrossers don't have any specific requests. I sent this to Europe and I informed her that Minnesota is my favorite state.

Now on to my second account which was created for my favorite gal:

This one is going to Poland.   I wished him a happy New Year!

Well this is a good place to stop. Good night everyone!

Under New Management!

I have to give credit to my fav gal for my last blog post. She brought a refreshing spin to my blog.  It is much appreciated. To be fair I have been busy and Christmas is creeping up and ....... and.....insert random reason why I don't blog as much. Well I am back and ready to roll.

Here is a real time blog update. Are you ready? Here goes:

10:35  Update:

I am watching Residential Evil on television. Last time I watched this was when internet was still fresh (2001) and we had to crowd around friends computer monitor  (13 inch) and watch a blurry download. Whoah! Now it is 50 inch television screens and HD images. Classic. I don't even want to get started on why I'm watching tv anyways.

10:41

I'm working on postcrossing. Here is what I'm sending to Germany to a postcrosser.

I got this bad boy in Toronto a few weeks. Ad-cards are the best - just slap cardstock on the back and it is a instant postcard.

11: 00

Oops. I'm too tired from working Friday night and Saturday night. Off to bed for me. Sorry

Toronto!!!!

Attention pen-pals, postcrossers and everyone else:

I am going to Toronto for 9 days (yay!) and so the mail (sending/receiving) will be put on hold. I'm excited as I haven't been to Toronto in a year (way overdue) and I'm excited to see my fav gal!

Keep your eye out for some pics.

P.S I may go to Buffalo New York also during the week.  New York city is too far of a drive. I tried crunching it but I will settle for Buffalo.

Kims' Divorce!

Ha! The title was a teaser. I'm not wasting my time blogging about celebrity stuff, I leave that to http://www.dlisted.com/. It is my favorite website along with http://www.tmz.com/. You can follow those websites if you care about pop culture.  So onto regular blog news:

1) Postcrossing : I finally have caught up on my mail. It has been a slow mail week so the postcrossing accounts (3) I manage are caught up. I'm almost at 100 for my main account and I wish to send out something nice for my 100th sent. And it is almost my one year anniversary of joining postcrossing. Yay!

2) Pen-pals: Again it has been a slow mail week so I just caught up yesterday. Double yay!

3) Entertainment news: I seen the remake of  "The Thing". I prefer the original better. The first one had suspense and you cared about the characters. The remake - not so much.

4) Modern Warfare 2: I am currently level 46. Level 70 here I come. I'm losing steam on it though and maybe I will stop playing.

5) Drawing: I somehow got it in my head to try to learn how to draw. I was so excited when I "doodled" some faces a couple of days ago. I was so excited that I was actually "drawing" something until I looked at that a few days later and realized they are bad and I'm drawing at a 4 year old level. But hey I guess you have to start somewhere.

6) Favorite person: Things are going great.

7) Books: I'm still just reading roleplaying books in my free time.

8) Sad Meter*: I'm miss New York City.

And my costume was ...................

Well I did it! I always leave my costume to the last minute and I manage to pull it off. I want to build up the suspense of what I decided to be. My original idea fell through so I modified the plan with a little guidance from my friend. Luckily I took pictures so I can recreate it on here. So here goes:

How to build a Halloween costume 101 (2011 Edition):

I started with this store.

Buy this and ....

print this!

Assemble this and...

fold this and .....
cut this to become......

a box!!!!

So basically I became a walking advertisement for UPS. I don't mind because my friend works there. There was only a few drawbacks to this costume. They were the following: not being able to sit down and having to cram the box in the back of seat of the car which squashed some of the passengers.
The costume was generally well received and I took flak from some random girl because her "actual" costume she had ordered online was shipped by  the  "real UPS" and haven't arrived in time for Saturday night. And she was "really out of it" and blaming me. Quite amusing.

Here are some "action shots" of me trying to win a dance off:

Well tomorrow is the big day. So happy Halloween everyone! I will include pumpkin pics and other assorted fun stuff tomorrow.
