Well this weekend is turning out to be nice relaxing trip for me. I am (sorry this is a french keyboard -forgive me) having a more fun time than I thought. It was dicey that I was even going to make my trip because where I live it was starting to storm. I checked online and by fluke while most roads were in poor condition, the highway I needed was listed moderate. It turned out the roads were bare an hour into my trip
.
And the weather is perfect minus the cold. It was cold today running around. I basically hit up as many places as I could for postcards and then picked up my race kit. And then I ate at a greek restaurant. I do not have a lot of time to update this and I want to post pics. (I am postcarded out. I may have to revamp my postcard ways. Printing pictures to make as postcards is a way more cost effective solution)
So basically think of me tomorrow morning at 8am. Wish me luck for my half-marathon. GO! GO! GO! GO!. I am just happy that I can relax after the race and that I do not have to drive straight home after the race. And Happy Family Day on Monday!
P.S I bought some vintage Bill Cosby records. Hey Hey Hey its Fat Albert!!! LOL.

Go! Go! Go! Go!
Well wish me luck - I'm running a half marathon on Sunday in the big town of Sudbury,Ontario. Think of me when your waking up on a lazy Sunday morning and roll out of bed. By that time I should be done the race. I can give you two predictions. Here they are:
And since I'm telling embarrassing stories I might as well finish up with the last place finish story. So for the record I have never until that fateful day came last in a half marathon race. So as I was huffing and puffing and struggling to plow on and finish, the thought to quit came in my head many times but I used CENA power "Never Give Up" to keep on. (Okay I made that part up but I didn't quit) Anyways I seen a lone runner behind me and she slowly catches up. I thought well if she don't pass me I'm cool and won't be in last place. She gets near and I find out shes the race marshall sweeping the course behind me to make sure no one is still running. So I WAS the last runner. Classic. And two extra insults to injury on top of that:
P.S Part of this race is just an excuse for me to get out of town to find postcards.

- I won't come dead last like last year. No way no how!
- I'm eating the brunch this time after the meal
- And...(Oops a third entry) I won't lock my keys in my car like last time and have to wait around for roadside assist. That's a classic an half right there!

- I told the person I have ran half marathons before and she still treated me like a first timer clapping her hands and saying you can do it!
- I get to the finish and they are pulling the race banners and finish sign down. I have to duck under the workers taking downt the signs at the finish line. Ouch!
- And finally (another insult) my high school buddy later on says where were you? I didnt see you (He ran the race). I didn't have the heart to say I came last and he placed second.
P.S Part of this race is just an excuse for me to get out of town to find postcards.

A BUNCH OF FIRSTS!!!!! (Optional Title: Down with Jafar and long live the Genie!)
So here is a bunch of firsts (in no particular order) :
- My first post on a blog on valentines day. (So happy Valentine's Day everyone. I send much love to the world)
- I sent a postcard out on Valentine's Day for postcrossing. (Caption: Will you be my first postcrossing Valentine?). That is a real gem.
- Send out my first travelling journal today. (Hopefully it reaches its destination in California)
- Won my first Magic card game (2 of 3 match) on Saturday. (nerd alert I know)
- This is related to post 2 - I jazzed up my postcard with a different sets of stamps and even the post officer worker got excited and added postmaster stamps. She went a bit crazy with the stamping though but hey what can you do. (If you asked me a few years ago if I would get excited over a postcard I would have laughed in your face)
- Watched two Disney movies for the first time on Sunday. (Alladin and Alice in Wonderland). How is it possible that I have never seen either of those movies before???? The Genie is the best. The best I tell you.

7000 Hits................ of Death!
So this is a little recap of some martial arts mayhem last night. My head was swimming with all the techniques I learned last night at my Kali class. (We were learning stick attacks) I felt like it was sensory overload.
Apparently there are 7 attacks per stick angle and there are 7 counters to those attacks and there x amount of counters to the counters. Classic. I was lucky if I could manage to remember 3 of the 7 attacks we learned. I cheated a little I guess because I kept doing attack one and six over and over because they were easy to remember.
It is a fun class and I wish it was held more than one hour a week. I feel like I'm barely scrapped the surface. It is funny because I seem to do better under pressure when the instructor makes it seem like a life or death situation. Nothing like the threat of a fatal knife wound to get me motivated to learn the technique. I wonder how many times I have "died' in that class.
I named this blog entry because apparently one of the drills is to practice 7000 hits with the sticks. The "of death" add on (my idea) just makes me laugh.
Sidenote: I also got some laughs like this:
Me: Wow this looks tough! (watching a technique) This must be advanced.
Instructor: Advanced? This is whitebelt. (Laughter) Advanced for whitebelt I guess
Others : (Laughter)

We Won! We Won!
Okay as a favour to a "friend" who loves the Bengals (wink, wink) I promised to give a play by play of the curling game on Monday. (Sidenote: I wish I would have updated this sooner. The game details are starting to get fuzzy. Here is the play by play:
End 1: We lost the toss and other team has hammer to start. We score 5 in the first round (5-0)
End 2: Opposing team scores 1 (5-1)
End 3: Our team scores 4 (9-1)
End 4 Opposing team scores 2 (9-3)
End 5 Our team scores 4 (12-3)
End 6 We finished the end and shook hands.
It helped that we had a substitution player that is really good and made all his shots. And I felt good going in and made say 70 percent of my shots. Overall a good game. Sorry I couldn't get into more details of each round. (My friend wanted a full play by play)
My friend can read this and edit it as necessary if he needs to. Hopefully our hot streak continues. Kaboom!
We are blowing up!

More Website Mayhem!
Okay so today I stumbled across a cool website while browsing the postcrossing website. Here it is:
http://myrealwall.blogspot.com/
Basically a guy decided to have a "wall" of postcards and any letter people send him. He also takes a picture of the wall and blogs about it. I fired off a postcard today for him. His address is on his website.
So cross your fingers and maybe in a month my postcard will become a part of his "wall". Here's where my patience has to come into play.
Sidenote: Here is a good spot where I can bury a story about me. ( A little embarrassing) I went to the local comic book shop to play in a magic card tournament on the weekend. Well when I got there to play the owner of the store looked at me like I was a fish out of water. It went like this:
Owner: (Surprised) Can I help you?
Me: I'm here for the tournament. Is there one tonight?
Owner: We are waiting for two more people and then we get started.
Me: Okay. (I browsed around the store. The store had about ten people sitting down playing cards and talking.)
(Two minutes later)
Owner: There is no game tonight. Sorry (acting suspicious)
Me: Okay. (I left)
So I don't know whats worse between the following:
1) getting rejected by comic book/gaming nerds
2) magic cards was my Sat night option
3) or that I care enough to actually blog about it
Zing to myself!
Add-on: I was telling this story and someone was comparing it to losing a friend in life and being true to myself. LOL. I don't care what the local comic book guy thinks about me. End of transaction with him.
